MIDA is a unique government authority

Created in 2007, the Military Installation Development Authority is a State of Utah entity to work closely with the military, private enterprises, and local governments to promote economic development and military initiatives.  In the course of its 15 year history, MIDA and its partners have developed, and continue to develop, the Falcon Hill Aerospace Research Park at Hill Air Force Base and the Military Recreation Area in Wasatch County, Utah.  These are currently the largest economic development projects in Utah.

The GRAND HYATT Deer Valley MWR Hotel Officially Open!

Nearly 300 military, elected officials, and community leaders attended the GRAND HYATT Deer Valley grand opening on Jan. 9, hosted by MIDA, Extell Development, the State of Utah, Hill Air Force Base, and Wasatch County. The event emphasized the hotel’s 100 morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) rooms for service members at discounted rates. Key speakers included Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, Colonel Dan Cornelius, Utah Senate President J. Stuart Adams, and others. Highlights featured a tribute to President Jimmy Carter, performances by the 23rd Army Band, Hill AFB Honor Guard, and a dramatic Utah Army National Guard helicopter flyover.

MIDA Board Meeting Highlights

MIDA’s January Board Meeting featured updates on key projects and unanimous approval of four resolutions, including the appointment of Karl McMillan and Nicole Cottle to Public Infrastructure District Boards. Highlights included the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley’s opening with 100 discounted military rooms, updates to Skyridge’s housing development, and Falcon Hill. Financial updates confirmed a clean audit for fiscal 2024. The Sundance Inn’s construction is progressing on time and will support the Mountain Veterans Program, targeting a full launch in 2026.
