September 13th MIDA Board Meeting Highlights

EX Utah Development LLC (EX Utah)'s Kurt Krieg provided a construction update to the MIDA Board Tuesday. Construction of the Military Welfare Recreation Conference Hotel at the Mayflower Mountain Resort (pictured above) remains on track for a summer 2024 completion, with crews forming and pouring segments of the reception level.

This is an unofficial summary of the Board Meeting produced by MIDA Communications staff. Minutes will be posted to the MIDA Website once they are approved.  Board members present: Harter, Farrell, Shepherd, Froerer, Stevenson, Ostermiller, Starks

PRESENTATIONS

EX Utah Development Update of Mayflower Mountain Resort (includes but not limited to):

  • MWR Conference Hotel remains on track for a summer 2024 completion; five residences are currently under contract.
  • Marcella Estate Lots: Civil improvements continue for the 68 lots; 34 estate lots have closed.
  • Pioche Estate Lots: Velvaere plat received an unanimous recommendation by MIDA DRC and Board recorded on Aug. 10: 115 residences (35 estate lots; 68 townhomes; 12 cabins; wellness center; HOA clubhouse.)
  • Pioche Apartments: Four buildings (402 units); 162 units will be ready to be occupied before the winter season commences.
  • The Skier Services complex goes before the DRC on Sept. 22.
  • Ventana: Culinary and snowmaking water tanks’ wall completed and roof formation under way. Rocky Mountain Power’s transformer pad site work complete and transformer delivered. Dominion Energy’s gas regulator site complete and gas step-down regulator installation ongoing.
  • The warehouse for the MWR conference Hotel’s fixed finishes and hotel units’ mock-ups is finished and hotel room mock-ups started.
  • Construction of water tanks continue.
  • Construction of 50 miles of hiking and biking trails continue.
  • Ski improvements: Mountain access roads are 90 percent complete and include more than 18 miles of road. Ski run and lift line clearing is ongoing with approximately 300 acres and grading follows at about 250 acres. More than four miles, 22,000 feet, of primary trunkline (36” welded steel snowmaking pipe) has been ordered and delivery is scheduled to arrive before Oct. 14.

“This is an amazing project,” remarked Sen. Stevenson during the MIDA Board meeting, who recently had opportunities to visit the site during both the Wasatch Back economic tour and the Summit County High Valley Transit tour (pictured below).

Falcon Hill Project Update

  • SRDP’s Taylor Woodbury said work at the North Gates has commenced; a contractor for the museum has been selected; construction has been completed at the Roy Innovation Center; and working closely with UDOT and making progress on both interchanges.

Board Action

  • Unanimous approval of Resolution 2022-12 Thanking Ben Hart for his service on the MIDA Board and appointing Ryan Starks as a nonvoting member of the MIDA Board.
  • Unanimous approval of Resolution 2022-13 Approving the site plan for the Velvaere Subdivision Plat in the Military Recreation Facility Project Area.
  • Unanimous approval of Ordinance 2022-01 Amending the MIDA Accommodations Tax and Resort Communities Tax previously adopted and levying the Municipal Transient Room Tax for the Military Recreation Facility Project Area. (The transient room tax, which also applies to short-term rentals, goes to Wasatch County; the transient room tax that is collected in the portion of the project area that is in Hideout will go to Hideout.)
  • Unanimous approval of Resolution 2022-14 authorizing the investment of restricted and surplus MIDA funds with a certified investment advisor.

Executive Director Update

  • Sparrowhawk (USTAR) building transfer to Weber State has occurred.
  • On Sept. 20, MIDA will present to the Retirement and Independent Entities Interim Committee.
