In some cases, yes. The short term rental must be eligible under MIDA’s permitted use restrictions and permitted by the HOA.
If you like to start a short term rental, you must do the following:
- Obtain a Short Term Rental Business License from Wasatch County. You can begin the application process on Wasatch County’s website (link).
- The short term rental must be managed by a property management company that is licensed through the state and Wasatch County.
- Assign a local responsible party. This individual must be available by telephone 24/7, resides within 30 miles of the rental unit, and is able and willing to respond to the rental unit within one hour of Wasatch County’s request to resolve a public health, safety, or welfare concern or a neighbor complaint. The local responsible party may be an employee of the property management company.
Yes. The rental must be rented more than 3 days and less than 30 days per month to a single entity or person.
Yes; however, the Short Term Rental Business License application will require a signed affidavit from the owner of the property.
If your Short Term Rental Business License is approved, it will remain active for 1 year from the issue date while in good standing. The business manager on record will receive a notice 60 days before the license expires with instructions to renew.
