MIDA Board Meeting Highlights – May 24, 2022

PRESENTATIONS

Military Recreation Facility (MRF) Project Area

EX Utah Development Update (includes but not limited to)

  • Great progress. Nearly 80 percent complete on the engineering.
  • MWR Conference Hotel:
    • Construction continues as Jacobsen Construction, general contractor, remains on track for a June 2024 completion.
    • Expect to announce a global brand in late Q2.
  • Ski improvements:
    • Summer efforts have begun on mountain access, ski runs and terminals, and lift-lines clearing.
    • Skier bridges engineering and fabrication ongoing; tunnels installation under way.
    • Day-skier parking construction continues.
  • Marcella Estate Lots:
    • The Galena Three (approved by Board) will enable 68 lots to be marketed and sold.
  • Site visits:
    • The Salt Lake City – Utah Games organizers and the IOC technical committee visited the site to see and discuss potential venues and field-of-play opportunities.
    • The U.S. Air Force along with the Army Corp. of Engineers continue their efforts as the Air Force finalizes their donation of Lot 20 from MIDA.

Falcon Hill Project Area Update

  • Significant progress:
    • Two of six floors in Building Four complete.
    • 870,000 square feet of office space expected to be complete by August.
  • Focus will be on infrastructure in 2022 and coordination with UDOT.

BOARD ACTION

  • Unanimous approval to appoint Wasatch County Interim Fire Chief Eric Hales to the MRF Development Review Committee.
  • Based upon unanimous recommendation by the DRC: Unanimous approval of Amendment to 2022-06 Mountain Roads, Phase 1 Plat in the MRF project area: to change road curve.
  • Based upon unanimous recommendation by the DRC: Unanimous approval of Amendment to 2022-07: approving the Galena Three Subdivision Plat.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR UPDATE

  • Reviewed two parcels to potentially be pulled into the MRF project area by way of board consideration and vote in June.

CFO UPDATE

  • Provided brief Fiscal Year 2022 Q3 results, explaining the board will need to take action at its next meeting to amend current year budgets to reflect the effects of bonds issued during the fiscal year.
